Star cast of the film Subedar Joginder Singh throw light on the film’s subject

CHANDIGARH: The first ever Punjabi biopic film based on the life of Param Vir Chakra award recipient Subedar Joginder Singh (SJS) is all set to hit the screens on April 6. Supported by Wave Cinemas, the movie has been made under the banner of Seven Colors Motion Pictures and Unisys Info Solutions Pvt Ltd and has been directed by Simerjit Singh. The movie has been written by National Award winner for best production design, Raashid Rangrez, who is also the creative producer of the film. The cast and crew of SJS held a press meet at Wave Cinemas, Industrial Area, Phase 1, Chandigarh recently.

“We have tried to take Punjabi films to a completely different level with SJS. We have roped in the renowned sound artist and Oscar winner Resul Pookutty to create the background sound of SJS,” said Sumeet Singh, MD, Unisys Infosolutions.

The press meet threw light on the much awaited movie. Director Simerjit Singh, actors Kulwinder Billa, Rajvir Jawanda, Jaggi Singh, Charan Singh and Aditi Sharma were present on the occasion. The artistes shared their experiences and work in the movie in detail. The film stars Gippy Grewal as Subedar Joginder Singh, Aditi Sharma as the leading lady who is essaying the role of Subedar Joginder Singh’s wife, Gurdayal Kaur.

When asked about his association with the film, Resul Pookutty remarked, “This is not just a film for me, it is the rich history of our nation. I feel blessed to have got this opportunity to utilize my skill and give best sounds to make this brave warrior of the Sikh Regiment come alive on the big screen.”

Talking about the film, actor Aditi Sharma highlighted the main aspects of movie. “This film has got a detailed storyline. Various aspects of a soldier’s life have been showcased. Personally, I liked this movie for its subject, concept and the genre,” said Sharma.

The film has been shot in Kargil, Dras, Rajasthan and Assam to maintain the authenticity of the project.
