It’s one of the most looked forward to events on the annual calendar of events at the Inter-National Institute of Fashion Design. For the students of fashion design, this annual fashion show is just the opportunity to make an impression before they set out on their own. Earlier this week, 38 students from the passing out batch presented their debut collections at ‘INIFD Fashion Day Out’ held at Taj Chandigarh.  The three back—to-back shows packed in some promising work by the budding designers.

Collections by student designers, Jainnu Kanwar and Neha Arora who showcased at ‘Fashion Scout’ held during London Fashion Week were also presented. A total of 24 collections were presented and they included a mix of traditional as well as Western outfits. The students were inspired by vivid themes and put in research as well. They also worked on concepts like ‘Ethereal Romance’, ‘2 States’, ‘Nirvana’, ‘Rosemary Montage’, ‘Glory of Gardens’, to list a few.

The event also saw a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ being conferred upon Kawaljit Singh, a veteran Bollywood fashion designer who has designed for celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Shah Rukh Khan, to name a few. He was last seen on the show Bigg Boss.

A ‘Style Icon of India Award’ was given to Imam Siddique, another former Big Boss contestant and popular host of TV shows such as MTV Style Check UTV Stars and Channel V Fashion Police for his contribution to Indian fashion industry. Mrs India Earth 2016 Priyanka Khurrana Goyal, Miss Commonwealth Asia Pacific 2016 Shweta Raj were also honoured on the occasion by INIFD.

The show was produced by ELFA Finishing Academy and choreographed by choreographer Lovell Prabhu. Credits for the makeup and hair go to the team of Ritu Kolentine.
