Brace yourself for some scorching summer days in SA as the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued an extreme heatwave warning.
After a wet start to summer with recent rains and thunderstorms, Adelaide is expected to hit a top of 31 degrees Celsius on Thursday, followed by a scorching 35 degrees Celsius on Friday and 31 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
With the sun beating down, it’s time to look for some cooler options. You could head to the pool or just stock up on your favourite summer lollies and frozen slushies.
Speaking of ice-cream, you can’t miss savouring the specials on offer by Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company, and the best part, you don’t have to head too far.

The popular ice-cream makers from Tanunda are camping at the Adelaide Central Market all this month (till January 27) as part of the market’s ‘Producer in Residence’ stall (Stall 12).
Located at the Grote Street end, there’s a delicious line-up of their famous and award-winning ice-creams and sorbets on offer. For the uninitiated, Barossa Valley Ice Cream Company churns out quality, gluten-free ice-cream using ingredients that are local sourced from the beautiful Barossa Valley and surrounding areas.
“The cream comes from Jersey cows of Greenock. The fruit juice for the sorbets is 100% natural juice from the Riverland district of South Australia. The fresh whole strawberries are from the nearby Adelaide Hills.
Where ingredients can’t be sourced locally, we ensure they are excellent quality from credible purveyors. Our vanilla beans are organic. The 70% Belgian Chocolate is from fair-trade single origin farms,” reads their website.

Spearheaded by Julie Donnellan and Les Williams, the ice-cream makers were crowned the 2016 Trophy Champion winners at the Royal Adelaide Show for their salty caramel ice-cream.
Other drool-worthy flavours include Belgian chocolate, ginger ice-cream and Balsamic roasted strawberry! Go on, take your pick and thank us later.
