Rujuta Diwekar debunks myths about food at Literati 2017

The star attraction on Day Two of ‘Literati’ organised by the Chandigarh Literary Society was celebrity nutritionist and food expert Rujuta Diwekar. She held a lively discussion and spoke about what to eat and what not to eat.

Rujuta is the winner of Nutrition Award from Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, and amongst the most qualified and sought-after sports science and nutrition expert with five best selling books on nutrition and exercise.

She debunked myths about eating desi ghee, curd, milk products, achaar, kadhi-chawal, rajma-chawal etc. Rujuta spoke about how these common Indian ingredients and vegetables are fast losing importance in the commercial market and that is the reason why organic and exotic foods get promoted on the pretext of health.

Eat well and follow the advice of the homemakers and not the dieticians or the doctors, she remarked. She advised the alcohol intake should be moderated and taken after meals and not before as it damages the body.

Having counselled celebrities like Kareena Kapoor, Anil Ambani, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Saif Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Karishma Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, she has been voted as 50 most powerful people in India by the ‘People’ magazine.  She is among only three Indians in CNN Asia’s ‘Hottest People to Watch Out For’ list.
